Dogs with Lighter Eyes Are More Sensitive - Use Doggles
Exposure to the Sun Can Cause Eye Disease
If your dog has lighter eyes, he needs extra protection from the sun!
Even though some may scoff at the idea, certain dogs actually need to have their eyes protected from the sun. It is proven that dogs with lighter eye colors, like blue, are more sensitive to sunlight. Duke ophthalmologist, Anupama Horne explains that "photophobia- the term used to describe light sensitivity- typically affects people [and dogs] with light eyes because they have less pigmentation in multiple layers of the eye than those with darker eyes. Because of this, they are unable to block out the effects of the harsh lights like sunlight and fluorescent lights." Many doctors have linked eye diseases like cataracts and macular degeneration to over exposure and lack of protection from the sun and UV rays. Having light eyes with less pigmentation only adds to this lack of protection. Consequentially, dogs with lighter eyes are more likely to develop eye disease and could even eventually go blind.
The Sun Can Be a Daily Problem
Doggie Doggles provide extra protection to lighter eyes that have less pigmentation and are more exposed to the sun's damaging effects.
In addition to blindness and eye disease, dogs with lighter eyes are more prone to a sensitivity that can cause daily problems like lack of comfort, chronic headaches, and moodiness. Dogs with lighter eyes will squint more, and you may notice an increased level of aggression. One way to protect them is with Doggles. Doggles are designed to block 100 percent of the UV lights and wrap tightly and comfortably around your dog's head to ensure this protection. If your dog seems to be struggling with the effects of the sun, it's not unusual; he just needs a pair of dog sun glasses- Doggles!!!.
It is apparent that Doggles are a great way to protect your dog from the dangers that he may be faced with.
