Searching For The Most Unique Pet Beds

"Cats are connoisseurs of comfort, "says James Herroit in his book 'Cat Stories.'"

This is true. Cats are some of the sleepiest, comforting and coziest pets in the animal kingdom. However, if you're a dog owner, then you know that a canine appreciates a deep snooze after a long day, too.

Since cats and dogs are both thankful for a nice, dry and welcoming bed, it's important to provide your pet with a bed of their own. If you live in a home that has nice furniture, expensive rugs and designer sheets, then it's even more important for you give your furry friend a pet bed.

For many pet owners, it can be difficult to pick out a bed for their furry friend. For most animals, an old blanket or a standard fleece pet bed from the supermarket is enough to keep them happily snoozing. However, if you have a particular pooch or a cat that is a diva, then you want a bed that embraces their personality. Just like people, individuality and personality can go a long way with a pet, so why not support it?

Looking For The Perfect Pet Bed

"I am weird, you are weird. Everyone in this world is weird. One day two people come together in mutual weirdness and fall in love," said Dr. Seuss.

For more than ten years, I have been spending time with my cat, Charcoal. This cat has me convinced that felines have the ability to be some of the strangest and friendliest animals in the world. An indoor and outdoor cat, you can set a clock by Charcoal's daily activities that range from walking the length of the property on fence posts to greeting the mailman every afternoon. Unlike most cats, Charcoal likes to sleep at night and runs himself tired during the daylight hours.

Recently, I went searching for a bed that could match Charcoals unique personality. An older cat (13 years old), I knew I wanted something that could provide him comfort, but I also needed something that could reflect his strange character. Eventually, I found a full line of cat beds (as well as some dog beds) that I could see him spending his nights in. Check out some of the more interesting beds that I found:

  • Self Warming Nuzzle Nest: This is a self-warming pet bed that can be used for cats or dogs. The Black Leopard print is loud enough to grab your pet's attention, plus it doesn't require any electricity to keep it warm and welcoming. I'm not sure if Charcoal is fine a fan of leopard print, but this pet bed looks cozy enough to get his interest.

  • Lecro-Soft Outdoor Heated Bed: This a much tamer design than some of the pet beds I found; however the usefulness trumps the typical print. This plug-in heated bed is ideal for outdoor animals. The soft-top layer of the bed provides support while a low wattage heater pumps out a surprising amount of heat, even in freezing weather.

  • Heated Kitty Sill: Before I started shopping, I didn't know pet products like the Kitty Sill existed. When my cat is inside, he always goes straight for the window to keep an eye on the property (and our bird feeder). The Heated Kitty Sill is a warming mat that attaches near interior windows. Plus, it can be plugged in during winter months.

One of the reasons that pet owners are obsessed with their animals is because they are so unique from other animals. It doesn't matter whether you have a lazy pooch or a frisky feline; there is a distinct personality to your pet that is likely different from anyone else. So, when it's time to get your companion a cozy bed of their own, be sure get them a snoozing spot that matches their individuality.
