PetSafe Develops New Ways To Keep Pets Inbounds

If you are a pet owner, then you know how important your four-legged companion is to you and your loved ones. Once a pooch (or kitten) has become a member of your family, it's nearly impossible to imagine life without them. It's because of this deep level of commitment and affection for our pets that we feel the need to keep them safe and protected.

Fenced in backyards, sturdy chains and a watchful eye are enough protection for some pet owners, but if you own a mischievous or curious canine, then you know you need as many levels of defense as possible to keep your pooch safe and grounded. According to a recent article by the Huffington Post, 15% of dog and cat owners have lost their companions because of a runaway in the last five years. In the study, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) conducted a survey of more than 1,000 pet households to find out if they had lost a cat or dog and if they were returned.

According to the study, more than 10 percent of lost dogs are never seen again. This scary statistic proves that dogs need to be guarded better by their pet owners. As a dog owner, this study makes me think twice about letting my eyes off our family dog. Luckily, there are some preventative measures that dog owners can take.
