West Paw minimizes waste, not only has West Paw developed a manufacturing process that minimizes waste (currently as low as 2.4%!) they also took it into consideration when designing their state-of-the-art building. It was constructed using the latest developments in energy efficient design in 2001. West Paw Design is a company that becomes more unique every day. West Paw Re-uses and recycles materials throughout the manufacturing process: Scrap materials are used to create new toys; Reclaimed and reused old boxes are utilized to store finished goods rather than plastic manufacturing totes (many reused boxes at the facility were even previously used to ship bananas before coming there - now that's a lot of reusing). West Paw Design also incorporates recycled material in their shipping boxes.

West Paw's IntelliLoft™ is clean, safe, re-engineered PET (polyethylene terephthalate) polymer material that is a win/win for our customers and the environment! By recycling existing PET polymer material they are reducing energy use, while at the same time, keeping plastic bottles out of the landfills. Creating products that use West Paw's IntelliLoft™ recycled material can use up to 8 times less energy than it takes to manufacture the same material new. West Paw's IntelliLoft™ Fiber Fill is the incredibly intelligent recycled, super soft re-engineered polymer made exclusively for West Paw Design. IntelliLoft™ is the eco friendly stuffing and cushion used throughout many of West Paw Design's products. Because the IntelliLoft™ is created from 100% recycled PET plastic bottles it is not only machine washable, but it washes clean, eliminating those unwanted pet odors. The Long-Staple Batting that makes up the padding in their flat mats contains 50% recycled IntelliLoft™ material.
All of West Paw's paper packaging, envelopes, letterhead, etc. contains recycled content. All items have at least 30%, but most of these items are 100% recycled content.
