About Rabbit Cages
Rabbit Cage size is an important factor when choosing your rabbit cage. This is a home for them, where they will probably spend most of their time. You will want to purchase the largest rabbit cage you can. This will provide enjoyment and comfort for your rabbit. Your rabbit cage should be at least four times larger than the rabbit. Your rabbit should be able to stand up all the way without bumping its head, stretch out, and take a couple hops in any direction. Since rabbits vary in size, rabbit cages do too.
The next things to consider in a rabbit cage are levels, flooring, and how many access points do you need?
Levels are something rabbits often enjoy, and they create extra space. Rabbit cages with levels give bunnies a perch and a place to lounge. More than one level is also entertaining for a rabbit. A stimulating environment is important for a pet rabbit. It keeps the rabbit's mind active and happy, a bored rabbit can cause a lot of trouble. Ramps and levels in rabbit cages provide more stimulation than a simple rectangular rabbit cage.
Flooring is another thing to consider when purchasing a rabbit cage. We have rabbit cages with different types of floors. Wire, solid plastic, plastic grid, and metal are just some of the different floors we have. Most rabbit cages that have grids, have removable grids. Some pet parents prefer rabbit cages with grids to make cleaning easier. Which ever type of flooring you choose for their cage, make sure to make different surfaces available to them. Giving a rabbit different surfaces is healthy for their feet. You may want to put a towel, or straw mat over part of their cage floor if you choose a wire flooring in your rabbit cage.
Access points are more of the pet parents preference than the rabbits. You'll want to consider how many and what kind of access points you desire in a rabbit cage. This is based on how you plan to get your rabbit out of its cage, clean the rabbit cage, and have the rabbit cage arranged in your home. This will determine what kind and how many doors you need or want. We have rabbit cages with one door, two doors, top opening doors, side opening doors, and full width opening doors.
If your a owner of a new rabbit, we recommend the starter kit. The starter kit includes all the things to start off a proper rabbit home. It includes a 28" x 17" x 16" rabbit cage, a corner litter pan, feed bowl, chew toy, and a wood bunny hut.
