This Astro system uses the durable DC-40 collar with transmitter and the 320 handheld unit. There is a collar lock feature which allows you to keep your pet’s whereabouts private through the use of a 4 digit PIN number. This feature was also found to be helpful for competitions so that the tracking is only activated in the event that the dog has gotten lost. You can purchase and extra maps which can be loaded on your Astro 320 through the microSD slot. TOPO U.S. 24k maps for elevations contours and City Navigation Maps with turn by turn road routing. Usage of mapping is important to show geographical features so that you will know if your dog has crossed a pond or river, or has ventured far off and coming upon a busy road. The Astro 320 is also compatible with Garmin custom maps which is free software that makes paper and electronic maps into a version which can be loaded onto the 320 handheld.
Track Dogs in Dense Cover
The DC-40 transmits your pet’s location up to as brief as 5 second intervals directly to the handheld so you can easily track your dog and the path it has taken from the map page. Using the dog tracker page you can view the compass which will direct you to your dog’s location and give you its status whether treeing quarry, running, sitting, or is on point. There is also a feature which will set off an alarm whenever your dog goes on point. Every dog’s distance can be displayed on the map page and you may set up the map so that it auto zooms so every dog is always in view. You may even track your dog within dense cover areas and can track up to 10 dogs at once. Even though this is possible, the tracking distance is its farthest when on level terrain where line-of-sight can be established.
Count Your Coveys
This feature lets you record the precise location your captured your prey which logs the location, time of day, and elevation of where you found the prey along with how many birds you flushed out of the location. You may also want to set up additional unique waypoints such as your truck, campsite, hunting blind, etc. These can make future hunting trips much easier especially with the use of icons to quickly identify preset locations.

BaseCamp Software to easily view maps, routes, waypoints to then send them to your Astro 320. BaseCamp is completely free and displays topographic information in 2D or 3D on your computer giving you information in regards to contour lines and elevation levels. You can also transfer satellite images when using
BirdsEye Satellite Imagery subscription along with geotagging photos, or linking them with selected waypoints.
