Training Collar Information: How They Work

Training collars are becoming more and more popular. With advancements in the technology, training collars are safer and more humane than ever. After the collar is charged and placed on the dog, the system is ready to go! Our training collars come with everything you need to get started. When you place the collar on the dog, make sure you can only fit one finger in between the collar and the neck of the dog. This is to assure the tightness of the collar. Now digging in the yard, jumping on guest and not coming to your calls are problems of the past. With a training collar, you may give your dog low levels of stimulation to stop undesired actions. The perfect dog does not come that way, but with a little training, it is possible.

Questions With Answers

1. NiMH Batteries

A Nickel Metal Hydried (NiMH) battery is the power source for the receiver collar instead of the expensive coin-cell or “watch batteries” seen in most other systems. The new NiMH batteries are better in many ways. First, they offer reliable rechargeablilty and are much more economical. Second, and most important, these new batteries will not build up memory with a daily charge. So they will never have to be drained and recharged. With a proper charge, they will be ready for use all the time.

2. Low Impedance Transformer

In the past, other systems have been know for releasing correction when it was not needed. Innotek has fixed this problem with their patented Low Impedance Transformer. With the LIT feature, there is no longer any chance for over correction. Over correction means the collar may give the maximum level of stimulation when it is not necessary. Innotek's Low Impedance Transformer helps to make our containment systems the most humane on the market. This patent is pending for Innotek and is implemented with their collars.

3. Water-resistant

A water-resistant component can withstand the effects of rain, snow and other inclement weather. However, it should not be submerged in water, as this may reduce the battery life and cause internal damage to the components.

Waterproof

A waterproof component is designed to withstand submersion in water. Be sure the receptacle cover (mud plug) that protects the charging port is pushed flush with the casing of the collar receiver prior to use (if applicable).

4. Tone option

With proper use of the tone option, the need for stimulation may soon be extinguished. When you start the training process, you may use the tone option before the stimulation is given to your dog. By doing this he will then start to associate the tone being followed by the stimulation. When this has happened, you will notice that he will stop the undesired behavior with the tone sound thus eliminating the need for stimulation. This option makes training your dog more humane than ever. You may also use the tone option for a good response to your dog. While training your dog, use your voice to let the dog know of his bad actions followed by the stimulation. As soon as your dog has stopped the unwanted action, without the use of stimulation, reward him with the tone sound and a treat. When this when this behavior is normal the tone may be use to reward the dog. In order to do this you must associate the tone with a treat or loud happy voices.
