Containment Systems: How They Work
Containment systems are becoming more and more popular. With advancements in the technology, containment systems are safer and more humane than ever. After the boundary wire is simply put into place and the transmitter is turned on, the system is ready to go! The boundary wire emits a radio signal. When this signal is received by the collar, stimulation will occur. Now if your dog is simply sniffing around the yard and accidentally steps into the containment zone, he will receive a warning tone. Never receiving any kind of stimulation, he is given the chance to retreat to the safe zone inside the yard. If he does not retreat to the safe zone in 3 seconds, a low level of stimulation will occur. If he continues toward the boundary wire, the stimulation will steadily increase. Say your dog is chasing a squirrel across the lawn and is running full speed at the boundary wire. When he enters the containment zone, the collar he is wearing will judge his speed and distance and adjust the stimulation level accordingly. This act of increasing stimulation is known as Run-Through Prevention. It is patented by Innotek. This Run-Through Prevention never lets the dog know where the actual boundary wire is. Thus, he will think the stimulation will never stop, but continually increase. He will only able to go as far into the containment field as he can withstand. This Run-Through prevention is what makes these containment systems the most humane on the market.

Questions With Answers
1. NiMH Batteries
A Nickel Metal Hydried (NiMH) battery is the power source for the receiver collar instead of the expensive coin-cell or “watch batteries” seen in most other systems. The new NiMH batteries are better in many ways. First, they offer reliable rechargeablilty and are much more economical. Second, and most important, these new batteries will not build up memory with a daily charge. So they will never have to be drained and recharged. With a proper charge, they will be ready for use all the time.

2. High Security Control Center
The new next generation systems have an upgraded wall-mounted control center. This control center incorporates a hinged lift-plate that is easily opened to adjust the system's settings. This lift plate protects your control center from any external influences, including weather, children and pet disturbances. This high security control center conveniently stops any undesired changes to your system's settings.

3. System Status Indicator
Make sure you know what is happening to your system with the system status indicator. Unlike other containment systems, our next generation systems include a warning tone to always let you know what is going on. This system status indicator will alert you if the boundary wire is not intact or if the system is not powered properly. This system status indicator will also let you know that the receiver is charging properly and that the battery back-up is fully powered and functional.

4. External Lightning Protection
Innotek offers the only lifetime warranted lightning protection device on the market today. This lightning protector will prevent lightning damage to your house and your containment system. You will find that all containment systems come standard with built-in surge protection. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS LIGHTNING PROTECTION!! Although this surge protection will protect you home in the event of a lightning strike, it will not protect your containment system. Instead, your wall-mounted transmitter will "explode", and you will be forced to pay as much as $200 to replace this transmitter! The lightning protector prevents this scenario by acting as a “sacrificial” device. In the event of an energy overload the lightning protector will be the only component harmed. Innotek will then replace it for free, as it is warranted for life.

5. Collar Receivers That Never "Sleep"
Most containment systems on the market boast an energy-saving "SleepMode". While these systems do work to save energy, this "SleepMode" cause a momentary delay in system functions. And we all know delays are "no no's" in pet containment! Innotek Smart Dog rechargeable containment receivers have always contained a battery preservation feature called time-slice. This means the receiver is never “asleep” when the dog is in the safe zone. Innotek Smart Dog advanced microprocessor technology does not waste energy or have the "SleepMode" delay. Instead, Innotek containment collars constantly search for a signal every 1/64 of a second. This conserves the power of the batteries without going to sleep or causing delays.

6. Low Battery Indicator
Our high quality collar receivers include a tri-color LED that alerts you of three instrumental collar functions: Battery life, correction indication and signal acceptance. With these three major functions constantly monitored, you will always know when the collar battery is low, when the dog is receiving adequate stimulation and when the collar is receiving the signal. These collar receivers really represent the next generation of containment receiver technology.

7. Transmitter Warning Tone
A major problem with other containment systems are their inability to warn you of system malfunctions. One important feature of the new generation control center is the transmitter warning tone. This warning tone is adjustable and alerts you of any problem the system may experience. The wall mounted transmitter for the SD-2100 and the SD-2200 emits an audible warning tone if the wire is not intact or if the system’s battery back-up is in operation.

8. Patented Run-Through Prevention
Run-Through Prevention is a feature patented by Innotek. It is only available in Innotek systems. In the past, systems offered only one level of static correction. This caused two problems. First, dogs would would only have to withstand one level of stimulation as they ran straight through the boundary. Second, dogs that accidentally walked into the boundary were hit with the full correction.
Run-Through Prevention has solved both of these problems by creating a zone of increasing stimulation. You are now able to set the distance before the boundary at which the stimulation begins. So if you set the containment field at 10 feet, an audible warning tone will occur, giving the dog three seconds to return to the safe zone and avoid stimulation. If the dog does not heed this warning tone and continues on, the stimulation will begin and will steadily increase as the dog approaches the boundary. This has solved our two problems. First, dogs must now run through a zone of increasing stimulation instead of just one correction level, making it much more difficult to escape the containment area. This progressive correction never lets the dog know where the boundary wire is, so he thinks the stimulation will never end. Second, Run-Through Prevention is more humane because your dog only receives as much stimulation as is necessary for him to retreat to the safe zone. Systems without Run-Through Prevention are not as humane or effective.

9. Boundary Wire
Our systems include only authentic burial-approved wire. This wire will not deteriorate over time like other look-a-like products. All containment systems must have a certain type of wire. The gauge of the wire is dependant upon the specific type of containment system you have. All containment wire must be "burial approved”. The wire that is included with our systems goes two steps further. Not only is our wire burial-approved, but is also polyurethane coated with a solid copper core. Our above average standards bring you the most durable wire available today. Each system will come equipped with 500 feet of the proper type of wire. If additional wire is needed, the suggested Boundary Kit will come in 500 foot increments.

10. 24/7 Battery Back-Up/Portable
The SD-2100 and SD-2200 are the world's only systems with non stop battery backup. So even if the power goes out, your system will still work! No more running home from work during thunderstorms and no more worrying. Another first from Innotek - designed for your comfort and peace of mind. Any time there is not power to the system, the batteries will automatically supply power for up to 40 hours. The transmitter will also emit a tone to let the user know the back-up option is in use. When the batteries run low, the transmitter will give indication that it is time to replace the batteries.
If you are the
outdoor type, the portable option is something you
must have. You may take the transmitter camping or
to the park and simply lay the boundary wire out,
place a few flags around and your dog won't be able
to wonder off. Its like some one is watching your
dog for you.

11. Low Impedance Transformer
In the past, other systems have been know for releasing correction when it was not needed. Innotek has fixed this problem with their patented Low Impedance Transformer. With the LIT feature, there is no longer any chance for over correction. Over correction means the collar may give the maximum level of stimulation when it is not necessary. Innotek's Low Impedance Transformer helps to make our containment systems the most humane on the market. This patent is pending for Innotek and is implemented with their collars.

12. Water-resistant
A water-resistant component can withstand the effects of rain, snow and other inclement weather. However, it should not be submerged in water, as this may reduce the battery life and cause internal damage to the components.
Waterproof
A waterproof component is designed to withstand submersion in water. Be sure the receptacle cover (mud plug) that protects the charging port is pushed flush with the casing of the collar receiver prior to use (if applicable).
