PET DENTAL CARE
Dental care is just as important for your dog as it is for you. Dry food and
chew toys help clean some of your pet's teeth, but they don't replace brushing
at the gum line where most dental problems begin. Introducing your pet to
brushing is not at all difficult. It only takes a few minutes a day and can add
years to your pet's life. Fortunately, the outside surfaces of the teeth need
the most attention and can easily be reached. Brushing is an important part of
the Chew, Rinse and Brush program.

TIPS FOR BRUSHING YOUR DOG'S TEETH
To introduce your dog to the toothpaste, apply a small amount onto your finger.
Because the taste of Petrodex is so appealing, most dogs will readily lick it
off. Next, apply a small amount onto the toothbrush. Let your dog taste the
paste from the brush. Then gently pull the lips and cheeks up. Begin brushing
with short, back-and-forth strokes at the gumline. Brush only a few teeth the
first time. Increase the number of teeth brushed each time until your dog
accepts the routine willingly. For a complete preventive care program, consult
your veterinarian. Remember: Avoid using human toothpastes. They often contain
detergents which can cause foaming and, when swallowed, can lead to stomach
irritation. |
